Top Five Card Games for Groups
Having more than two players is what makes these games fun!
Tichu
Tichu is played as a team or in partners. The object is to get rid of all your cards by playing down various combinations. It's trickier than it looks.
Dutch Blitz
Dutch Blitz is all about speed and keen observation skills. All the players play together at the same time on one playing area. The object is to get rid of all your cards.
Schotten Totten
Schotten Totten is a strategy game requires players to play 'poker' hands. Whoever has the winning hands wins a stone. Win three stones in a row or a total of five stones and you win the game.
Cranium's Zigity
The object of Cranium's Zigity is to get rid of all of your cards by matching, dancing, singing, or spelling your way to victory. (This game will leave you laughing hysterically.)
The Great Dalmuti
The object of The Great Dalmuti is to get rid of your cards as quickly as possible as each player is 'assigned' a lot in life such as a peasant or a knight. Quickly changing play makes the game fun and unpredictable.
Top Five Card and Board Games for Parties
Wits and Wagers
Players 'bet' on each other's answers based on what you know about the participants, guessing the odds, or simply making an educated guess.
Apples to Apples
Apples to Apples is a great thinking game. Players take turns being the referee who reads one word from a card he/she chooses. Using the words on the cards they are holding, the other players try to "match" the word that was read. For example, if the word was banana, and you have a card that says "hard hat" you might choose it because they are both yellow things. Playing Apples to Apples often takes a hilarious turn.
Balderdash
One player reads a word from a chosen card. Other players then try to write a convincing definition of the word. Players then vote on which one is most likely to be the correct definition. Players win by guessing the correct definition or convincing the most people that their definition is the correct one.
Smarty Party
Players try to name ten things on a list. When they miss one, they advance on a board. The player who has advanced the least wins.
Taboo
A player is given a word to describe and a list of commonly associated words that he cannot use. The team to get the most cards finished in a certain period without using the 'taboo' words -- wins.
Top Five Games for Children That Adults Will Like Too
Set
Cards are placed face up. Players try to match a set of three cards according to various attributes (color, shape, or pattern). Set is easy enough for kids but challenging for adults as well.
Cranium
Cranium has players doing all sorts of things to win -- spelling backwards, sculpting, singing or acting.
Snorta
Each player chooses a barnyard animal to imitate and begins mooing or clucking away. Expect bouts of uncontrollable laughter as players try to mimic other players as well.
Quelf
Players move around the board game and are subjected to performing various feats. With tasks like sitting under the table until someone rolls a four or talking like Count Dracula with your thumb on your forehead, this game is sure to bring on the laughter.
Clay-o-rama
Players create their own clay creatures and then assign them special powers like "the drop". (If you drop your clay creature from three feet, will it survive?) Clay-o-rama is sure to please the youngest in your crowd to the oldest. After all, who doesn't like to play with clay?
