High School Musical Twister
From LoveToKnow BoardGames
High School Musical Twister gives you the atmosphere of the High School Musical franchise with the classic popularity of the Twister game. If you have played Hannah Montana Twister, then you will find the games very similar in gameplay.
The Franchise
High School Musical originally aired as a made-for-TV musical in 2006 on the Disney Channel. The success of that one spawned a sequel, High School Musical 2, which was also made for television. The last movie with the current characters was released for the big screen in 2008 and was just as popular as the other two.
High School Musical Twister Box Contents
You get the following:
- Two Twister mats
- 2 cds with High School Musical music
- The Twister Moves CD
- Instructions
Gameplay
After you set out the Twister mat and put the Twister Moves CD in the player, you must listen carefully as the announcer on the tracks calls out the dance moves. Then, you perform the dance moves on the mat!
The DJ's instructions are overlaid on the songs, so you must listen intently to ensure that you've heard him right. If not, then the next player has an opportunity to get a good move going. That's really all there is to this game. It's not complicated except in the fact that it could be hard to understand what move you have to do.
Players can either play solo, or break out the second mat for 2-player competition.
Best Suited For
High School Musical Twister is best suited for young girls from 10-16. That is the main demographic of the movie, so it makes sense that this is for whom the game is geared. This game can be considered for the family, but as a mother or father, you may not want to interrupt when your daughter has got her jam on while listening to the CDs.
Now, boys can play High School Musical Twister. What boy may not have respect for Zac Efron or Corbin Bleu? They sing and dance, which is what your son can do. Maybe all you have to do is make him realize that it's just an enhanced version of Twister with an automatic set of instructions.
Criticisms
- The game is too fast. Since the songs last for about three to four minutes, you must continuously be on the move. Regular Twister at least has a break between spins. With High School Musical Twister, you have to be thinking and paying attention for those entire three or four minutes.
- There are only four High School Musical songs that are available without the DJ crooning out moves. So you can't perform the famous dance moves that you see in the musical, which can be disappointing to some if they were expecting that to be the case.
- This isn't the best party game. While you can play two at a time, it's boring if you have a party that also wishes to play. Unfortunately, people will have to take turns. If you have extra Twister mats, you can use those. Of course, you will need lots of room.
- After you go through the 100 different possible moves you can do, then you've exhausted all the variety out of the game. The only thing left to do after that is memorize the moves you can practice without using the mats.
Where to Purchase the Game
There are quite a few places to find the game. With each new release of the movie, the games are produced again. The game is based off the first movie and has been out for a while, but there are a many online stores to get it from.
