From LoveToKnow BoardGames

If you love the television show, you'll love Simpsons Monopoly. It has all the wheeler-dealer aspects of classical Monopoly with the crazy, zany fun of the Simpsons.

Meet the Simpsons

The Simpsons Monopoly game is based on the characters and award-winning animated Simpsons television show which were created in the late 1980s by Matt Groening. The game is published by USAopoly, a leading publisher of over 100 spin-offs from the classic Monopoly game.

Simpsons game

The Simpsons are a wildly dysfunctional family who live in the fictional town of Springfield:

  • Homer – The father, who is a safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Homer stumbles through life as a crude, clumsy, lazy, overeating character who is extremely loyal to and protective of his family.
  • Marge – The extremely patient, sometimes naive wife and mother who is easily recognizable by her mile-high blue beehive hair style.
  • Bart – The funny, mischievous, oldest child of Homer and Marge.
  • Lisa – The extremely intelligent middle child.
  • Maggie – The pacifier-sucking baby sister of Bart and Lisa.
  • Santa's Little Helper – Furniture chewing greyhound that Homer brought home from the dog racing track.
  • Snowball V – A dark grey female cat who was renamed Snowball II so that a prior food dish could be used.

You can step right into the life of the Simpsons with this game. It includes several of the family members as well as several of the more memorable townspeople.

Cash in on the Boom

The Springtown monorail is a big success, and Springtown has become a boom town. The residents want to take advantage of the opportunity, and they are scampering to purchase all the properties in Springtown. As the players purchase the properties, the owners can upgrade the properties by adding a monorail stop and station – not the typical houses and hotels as used in the classic Monopoly game.

This fun real estate game captures the Simpsons unique humor, characters and locations. Players can enjoy the fun of buying properties, improve the properties and make tons of money when other players land on their properties. It is the deal-making and risk-taking properties with the crazy and colorful characters of the Simpsons.

Simpsons Monopoly: Boom Town Real Estate

The rules for playing the game are the same as the classic Monopoly game; however, the properties are named after the one-of-a-kind landmarks from Springfield, the city in the television series. Players can land on and purchase familiar properties such as:

  • Moe's
  • Barney's Bowl-a-Rama
  • Springfield Nuclear Power Plant
  • Krustylu Studios
  • Kwik-E-Mart
  • Scenic theme parks
  • Trendy restaurants
  • Super seedy night spots

Players can employ all of the same strategies as the classic game including:

  • Controlling a group of properties, and then adding a monorail stop or station
  • Building their cash flow by charging rent to players who land on their properties
  • Buying cheap properties and quickly adding a money-making monorail stop

The game includes Chance and Community Chest cards which have been customized to reflect the Simpsons attitude. The cards have references to the characters and include cartoon drawings.

Game Pieces

The game is excellent fun for two to six players. It is easy-to-learn and play for ages 8 and up which makes it an excellent addition to your game library. Each game takes about two hours to play, so it’s a great game to get kids and adults out of their "I'm Bored!" rut.
